Shortly after my arrival, I planted some basil, crookneck squash, and some cucumbers. I was delighted to see them spring up amazingly fast and begin to grow. My landlady frustrated me by telling me that they wouldn't make it... something about these little worms that destroy everything. I was determined to prove her wrong and bought a preventative products. The plants grew with amazing speed and then died off at the speed of light. Everything but the basil. So much for my mouth watering crookneck squash and cucumbers...
The missionaries next door pampered a tomato plant and were waiting just a few more days for the fruit to ripen. The next day they came out to half eaten tomatoes. Birds, Ferrel chickens, giant slugs? We may never know...
