I-Work
Checkout these beautiful faces above. These are a few of hundreds of I-Work students who come to us from all over the world. The I-Work program assists students from the Pacific Rim in obtaining a quality education at BYU-Hawaii (it is only available here). The picture below show specific areas that they arrive from.
- The I-Work program pays all university tuition, class fees, insurance, room and board in excess of the student contribution and payroll deduction from their work at either the PCC or BUYH.
- The program offers a 50% grant and a 50% forgivable loan. Their is a catch... the loan portion is only repayable if the student chooses not to return to their home region following graduation from BYU-H. Upon graduation, it is expected that the student return to their home country/region qualified to provide leadership roles in an international Church, in civic and social affiliations and within their families.
- Students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and complete 14 credit hours per semester.
- Students in the program must work 19 hours per week while school is in session and 40 hours per week during school breaks. (a portion of the student's paycheck will bed education to help pay for their educational costs.
Volunteer opportunities
Because their isn't always time grab a bite to eat from the cafeteria (between their work and school schedule) the I-Work office provides them with the opportunity to stop by and grab a drink and a bite to eat.
- Tito's grill regularly donates fresh bread for sandwiches.
- PCC/BYU missionaries often return from Costco with a gift of peanut butter, honey, jam, Nuttela, and other offerings to help feed the hungry I-Work student who happen by. If you are looking for another way to serve, Elder and Sister Card will be happy for your support (626-233-1407 or 818-720-3458)
