Kahuku Farms: I won a gift certificate a few weeks back and requested that Wes take me to redeem it the other day. So we headed toward the north shore and located this little yellow building on the left side of the road. We walked around to the back (where you place your order) and gasped. Beautiful fields and gardens took our breath away. It was peaceful and sunny with birds and raised planter boxes.
Checkout the two birds below. I share a morsel of my sandwich with them. The menu was fun of healthy smoothies made from Kale, etc. I would definitely visit this place again. I ordered the Farm Pizza with a side salad. Which was a flat bread with tomatoes, eggplant, cheese and pesto. I was all for the pesto, but eggplant? I couldn't have been more wrong. I ate every last morsel which was amazingly good. The sat there in the sun and watched the birds and wanted to curl up and take a nap! I basically was comatose!! Wes order the 1/2 papaya and vanilla bean ice-cream, a side salad, and soup. The papaya was amazingly sweet and it was HUGE! He liked it better than cantaloupe ala-mode. I was only able to weasel a couple of bites out of him. It went down fast. The soup was the only item that they had that had meat (chicken). It also had egg plant, but you wouldn't have known. This was fabulous. |
THAI Food - On the way home from Koneohe, we always passed this food truck across from the beach, near a small market in Punaluu ( It's across from that apartment complex). There always seemed to be a line of people there, but I could never get my "not a Thai Food guy" husband to stop. Tonight, was the night and I drug him along so I could try it out. It was fabulous, with fragrant rice and plenty of fresh veggies. Did I mention that the owners are from Thailand.
